I'm proud to be a part of the award-winning, Grant Thornton Mentor Programme

Grant Thornton has seen a tangible and overwhelmingly positive impact since we launched our mentor programme. GT has seen huge growth over the last 3 years with our overall headcount increasing by 56% with some departments doubling in size.

 

Prior to this growth, mentoring occurred informally and varied through different teams with any goal setting or tracking happening offline.

 

Mentors were sought based on proximity to a team or through colleague recommendations. A knock-on effect of rapid growth, as well as hybrid working is that many experienced new joiners struggle to meet colleagues outside their immediate team nor be able to express an interest in mentoring junior colleagues.

 

As a result of launching our programme via Mentorloop, colleagues are able to seek out a mentor that aligns with their career aspirations and seek out mentors from other departments.

 

The firm has one central location for mentoring to take place as well as accurately record mentoring goals and mentor feedback. The programme has streamlined the search process with prospective mentees now able to search for mentors throughout the organisation and make connections that weren’t previously available to them.

 

Our programme initially opened to Assistant Managers and Managers for 6 months before we opened to higher levels of Associate Director, Director and Partner for a year. The programme had huge success with many commenting on the mentorship contributing to career growth, personal development and enhancing interpersonal skills, particularly relating to client relations. Based on this success and internal feedback, we have opened the programme to Senior Consultants, Associates, Administrators and Trainee Accounts since the start of 2022.

We are extremely proud that all career levels are included in the Grant Thronton Mentor programme and that Partners and senior management make time for mentoring and are so open to encouraging to staff in their goals.

Our organisation continues to see collaboration and self-driven career growth as the programme continues to grow in numbers and look forward to seeing it succeed into 2023.
