Accessibility – Our Approach

Last updated: March 2023

We believe the right connections can change your life, and that those connections should be available to everyone. Therefore Mentorloop is committed to making mentoring, and therefore our websites, as accessible as possible. As part of that, we subscribe to WCAG 2.1.

WCAG 2.1 is a technical standard developed under the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). More detail on the standard can be accessed here: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/

We comply with the WCAG 2.1 standard, to A level currently, and we are now striving to achieve  AA level compliance. Some aspects of our platform will already be compliant to AA, and even beyond to AAA. It is a process that we’re committed to.

We have built the site’s information architecture and structure to ensure that it is legible when used by a screenreader. Generally, we build site architecture to be rational, but there are potential gotchas in how we structure information, so these are continually under internal audit and review.

Making mentoring connections happen naturally requires that our end users – mentors and mentees – upload their own content including copy, documents and images – into the Mentorloop platform. We cannot always guarantee the accessibility of this content, but we are working on providing tools to our end users to help them add meaningful labels to items they upload, that can be easily understood, and also accessed by screen readers.

If any information or service provided by Mentorloop is inaccessible to you, or you are experiencing problems accessing content for any reason, please reach out and tell us about it on access@mentorloop.com
