At Fitted for Work, mentoring is more than guidance — it’s the spark that transforms job readiness into long-term success. While practical services like resumes and interview practice prepare women and gender diverse job seekers for opportunities, mentoring gives them the confidence to step into those opportunities and thrive once they do.
Since partnering with Mentorloop in 2019, Fitted for Work has been able to scale its program, reduce barriers, and offer every participant a personalised mentoring experience that builds not just skills, but belief in themselves.
Fitted for Work provides practical job readiness services — from resume support and interview practice to outfitting. But while many clients were “job ready on paper,” something was missing: confidence.
Too often, clients had the skills but lacked belief in themselves. This made it harder not just to land jobs, but also to thrive once employed. Fitted for Work recognised that building confidence required more than training — it needed personal connection and encouragement.
In 2019, Fitted for Work launched its mentoring program on Mentorloop. By pairing clients with volunteer mentors, they provided the human support missing from traditional job services.
Mentorloop made it easy to:
Since launching the mentoring program on Mentorloop in 2019, the transformation has been profound. What began as a way to “fill the gap” beyond practical job readiness services has become one of the most impactful offerings at Fitted for Work.
Participants consistently report feeling more confident, capable, and resilient. While many clients arrive with polished resumes and strong skills, mentoring provides the encouragement and belief that helps them truly see their own potential. As one mentee shared:
“My mentor’s amazing… I learned so much from her and she helped me land a good job. We only had two sessions, but I want to continue with her — she gave me clarity and confidence for my next steps.”
The results speak volumes. Since the start of the year alone, nearly 600 clients have landed jobs and been offered a spot in the mentoring program. Currently, 58 mentees are actively engaged — each supported by a volunteer mentor walking alongside them in their journey.
It isn’t just about landing the job. Mentoring helps clients thrive once they’re in work. Mentees often continue their relationship with their mentor beyond the formal program, building professional networks and having a trusted advisor they can return to for guidance.
Mentors also benefit. Through group Loops, Fitted for Work creates spaces where mentors can connect with each other, share experiences, and strengthen their own skills. This ripple effect means mentees don’t just gain a single mentor’s perspective — they gain the collective wisdom of a community.
The result? A program that delivers both personal transformation and practical employment outcomes, while embedding confidence, community, and long-term growth into every mentoring relationship.
Fitted for Work plans to grow its mentoring program steadily and sustainably — expanding its base of volunteer mentors so more women and gender diverse job seekers can access the support they need.
Mentorloop helps organisations like Fitted for Work deliver impactful, scalable mentoring programs that change lives.

"Mentorloop has been a game-changer for us. It keeps everything in one place, makes it simple to support hundreds of clients, and gives us real visibility into how people are feeling. It means we can focus on impact, not admin."

What Role Does Equity and Equality Play in Your Mentoring Program?
The right mentoring program should level the playing field to empower entire cohorts of people: workplaces, member associations, social groups and educational institutions. Equality should be a cherished value so that every individual can thrive—whoever they are, whatever their background, however they worship or whomever they love. But we can’t arrive at equality without it’s often forgotten partner, equity.
What does a Mentoring Program Coordinator do?
Being a Mentoring Program Coordinator is an incredibly rewarding experience that positively impacts the lives of many. And while mentoring programs don’t fully run themselves (even though Mentorloop can do a great deal of the heavy lifting!), they do require a point of contact that can steer the program in the right direction for the organisation that is running one.
Building Quality Feedback Into Mentoring Relationships
This is Part 8 of our 10-part series on the 10 Key Qualities and Habits of a Highly Effective Mentor.
In this post, we’ll look at how mentors can successfully build quality feedback into their mentoring. Quality feedback is priceless because it clarifies expectations, helps people learn from their mistakes, and builds confidence. It also allows mentees to more effectively take what their mentors say and turn it into action.
