Companies are obsessed with “future-proofing” their workforce—but what if everything they’re doing is actually setting employees up for failure?

nib’s award-winning mentoring program coordinators – Talent & Capability Lead Andrew Corfield and Learning & Organisational Development Advisor Kate Lloyd share their insights and experiences on building and running a successful program that fosters engagement, development, and impact in today’s hybrid work environment.
nib is an Australian health insurance provider. Their mentoring program aims to connect their hybrid and dispersed workforce for the purpose of their own self-development, with someone who they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet in a typical office environment.
They achieved this by having 91% of mentor/mentee relationships occurring across different teams and 72% across different locations including Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Wellington, and Cork.
The program enjoys a 91% participant satisfaction rating and won a Mentorloop Impact Award in 2023.

The Back Up Trust mentoring program won the Mentorloop Impact Award in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Connecting those newly affected by spinal cord injury with someone who has ‘been there’ and lived through similar challenges helps people to feel less isolated and more empowered to live life to the fullest.
Mentoring is a key service at Back Up. Since implementing Mentorloop, they’ve been able to reach and support even more people. They’ve also expanded their mentor training weekends from three to four whilst also increasing the number of attendees. These training sessions equip thier volunteer mentors with the skills they need to provide invaluable support to their mentees.
