My mentor has greatly exceeded my expectations both in terms of her impressive background and her expert mentoring skills. She always guides our conversations just where they need to go and I look forward to every meeting. Our relationship is fairly new, but I am already benefiting though increased empowerment and clarity around my professional growth in leadership, and more broadly.

Before Mentorloop

Before implementing Mentorloop, we faced several significant challenges:

  1. Initially, dealing with paper applications was incredibly time-consuming, especially when it came to sorting and creating mentoring connections.

  2. It was challenging to effectively track activities and send follow-up emails to participants.

  3. Coordinating and managing the program across multiple platforms was cumbersome.

  4. Logging data and reporting the program’s success proved to be a difficult task.

Program Impact

Our mentoring program has had a profound and positive impact on both our organization and the broader membership community.

Here are some key aspects of the impact:

  • Professional Growth: Participants in our mentoring program have experienced significant professional growth. Mentees receive guidance and advice from experienced mentors, helping them develop essential skills, navigate challenges, and achieve their career goals. This has resulted in improved job performance, increased confidence, and enhanced leadership abilities.
  • Community Building: Beyond the organization, our mentoring program has contributed to community building. By engaging with mentors and mentees from diverse backgrounds, our participants gain a broader perspective and develop valuable networks. This helps build a more connected and collaborative community of aspiring and existing managers and leaders.
  • Success Stories: The program has generated numerous success stories. Participants have achieved career milestones, overcome challenges, and realized their potential. These success stories inspire others within the organization and the member community to take part in mentoring and invest in their personal and professional growth.

Looking to the Future

The plans we have for the future of IML ANZ’s Mentoring program are exciting!

Scalability: We aim to scale our Mentoring Program to reach even more members, program participants within our organization and membership community. This will enable us to create a broader impact and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

Structured Learning Paths: We’re developing structured learning paths to integrate the mentoring program as a part of their learning journey for our members and Leadership training program candidates to align it with their career goals and professional development. These paths will provide a clear roadmap for mentors/mentees, helping them acquire specific skills and achieve their professional aspirations.

We’re excited to seamlessly integrate the Mentorloop platform with Salesforce, our current CRM system. This strategic initiative aims to significantly enhance our reporting capabilities while streamlining the recording and logging of crucial program details, thus further optimizing our operational efficiency.

Inclusive Mentoring: The Impact of Equitable Matching Algorithms

The right mentoring program should level the playing field to empower entire cohorts of people: workplaces, member associations, social groups and educational institutions. Equality should be a cherished value so that every individual can thrive—whoever they are, whatever their background, however they worship or whomever they love. But we can’t arrive at equality without it’s often forgotten partner, equity.

What does a Mentoring Program Coordinator do?

Being a Mentoring Program Coordinator is an incredibly rewarding experience that positively impacts the lives of many. And while mentoring programs don’t fully run themselves (even though Mentorloop can do a great deal of the heavy lifting!), they do require a point of contact that can steer the program in the right direction for the organisation that is running one.

Building Quality Feedback Into Mentoring Relationships

This is Part 8 of our 10-part series on the 10 Key Qualities and Habits of a Highly Effective Mentor.

In this post, we’ll look at how mentors can successfully build quality feedback into their mentoring. Quality feedback is priceless because it clarifies expectations, helps people learn from their mistakes, and builds confidence. It also allows mentees to more effectively take what their mentors say and turn it into action.
