ONTARIO BAR ASSOCIATION MENTORING PROGRAM
Welcome to the Ontario Bar Association Mentoring Portal
If you are already involved in the OBA mentoring program, and have already created a Mentorloop account, you can login below.
Register your interest above, and your application will be reviewed.
Program coordinator, Lori Kinch, will email you an invite to the program.
You can now request to match with a mentor or mentee.
How does matching work?
This is a self-serve program, so the information you provide in the recruitment form above will be added to a profile (you can upload a picture once you have been accepted into the platform).
Once you are in the program, you can reach out and request a connection with other Ontario Bar Association members. Remember, only those who have requested to take part are present in this mentoring program, so please make the most of the opportunity to connect with your fellow OBA members.
What is Mentorloop and how will it help me?
Mentorloop is a platform that helps to connect mentors and mentees.
- You can make connection requests without needing a go-between.
- Mentorloop will help you match with a mentor/mentee with similar location/practicing fields/background.
- You can connect and collaborate with peers.
- You have access to a resource hub full of helpful hints, tips and tools, so that you get the most from the relationship when you need it.
- Mentorloop will store correspondence relevant to your mentoring relationship in your Mentor/Mentee ‘Loop’ for easy reference.
- You have full control of your availability and can adjust as required at any time.
What are the time requirements?
We suggest that you discuss and agree with your mentoring partner how often you’d like to catch up; you will also be able to see on each user’s’ profile their selected preference for how often they would like to meet-up.
What if a person I would like to be my Mentor/Mentee is not on the platform?
Feel free to ask your Program Coordinator, Lori Kinch, to reach out or you can simply share this link with your contact to register their interest. They must be an OBA member to take part.
I want to take a pause… how do I temporarily prevent myself receiving requests from My Match?
Click on Dashboard, scroll down to “Turn off your availability for My Match” and turn it off. This ‘hides’ your profile from ‘My Match’ which is the place were mentees and mentors request matches.
What if there is not a suitable mentor/mentee in my area or location?
We want to help ensure our members are more connected and to drive professional development and member interconnectedness through mentorship; if there is not a suitable Mentor/Mentee available in your area we encourage you to seek a Mentor/Mentee in a different area/location. You can catch up via video chat or share ideas via Mentorloop chat or email – it just takes a few key conversations to make a valuable connection, so please make the most of what’s available.
