How does matching work?

MENTEES:  Once you sign up, you will be allocated a mentor who ideally will be in your area however if that is not possible, we will find someone close by from another business.  You will receive an email/notification of your new match – ‘loop’ – and you can start communicating with your mentor via Mentorloop.

MENTORS:  Once you have registered, we will seek approval from your Area Manager. Please be patient while we review your application. Once approved, you will an email/notification of your new match – ‘loop’ – and you can start communicating with your mentee via Mentorloop.

How does the matching work?

The program co-ordinator will match you and we do our best to make a great match. We look at your geographical location, business area and your common interests.

If I am a mentor, can I request my own mentee?

Yes, this is possible however your mentee cannot be in the same store as you.  Please contact Alex Hahn to make this request.

What are the expectations of mentors and mentees?

  • Meet up either in person (or over the phone if distance is an issue) at least once a month
  • Maintain meaningful regular contact throughout the month
  • The mentor is not to replace the team manager, the mentor is there to support and be a great friend

What is Mentorloop and how will it help me?

Mentorloop is a platform that helps to connect mentors and mentees.

  • You can make connection requests without needing a go-between.

  • You can connect and collaborate with peers.

What advice do you have for mentees?

Having a mentor can make a huge difference to your success and happiness at work. Studies have found that professionals who have had mentors experience far greater job satisfaction.

To get the most from a mentor, you need to be open to pushing yourself and learning. Mentees need to be willing to get out of their comfort zone, ask for advice and be willing to share details of when you are being challenged. The more you put into your mentoring experience, the more you will gain.

For more advice and information, refer to the Mentorloop Resources Hub.

What advice do you have for mentors?

Being a mentor is being a trusted advisor to someone.  It involves making yourself available to support and offer advice when they need it or when you think your mentee needs it.   Delivering that support in a way that makes sense to them and always keeping your mentee’s best interest in mind. It may feel uncomfortable at first however the process of mentoring is often just as rewarding for the mentor as it is for the mentee.

For more advice and information, refer to the Mentorloop Resources Hub.

What are the time requirements?

The expectation is that you will meet at least once per month with additional meaningful communication throughout the month.
