2 Minutes with a Mentee: Meet Patricia Tolentino

Meet Patricia Tolentino – a Graduate Investment Analyst at CBUS and a participating mentee in the CBUS Mentoring Program. Patricia shares why she appreciates how being a mentee has helped her get out of her comfort zone, as well as some advice for new mentees!

What do you think the ‘secret’ is to a good mentoring relationship?!

I think the 3 key important things for a successful mentoring relationship is transparency, respect and trust.

What is one way that mentoring has changed your professional or personal life – or for your mentoring match!

Mentoring has definitely challenged and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone both professionally and personally which is crucial because doing something new and attempting to improve yourself is never comfortable and easy, but the results are always worth it.

What tips or advice would you like to share with those new to mentoring?

For those that are new to mentoring, I encourage you to be transparent with your mentor and don’t shy away from asking a lot of questions and exchanging ideas so they can offer you wisdom and guidance throughout your journey. Make sure that you also have a goal in mind so your mentor can further assist you in taking measurable steps to achieve them.  Lastly, just enjoy this unique experience with your mentor!

The CBUS Mentoring Program was launched to provide their teams with an additional avenue for learning and development, as well as break down barriers between departments and teams within CBUS.
